Sowjetische Aktiengesellschaften
The Soviet Military Administration (SMA) converted the majority of the firms of the defeated German Reich into VEBs, or state-owned enterprises (Volkseigene Betriebe). Some remained under SMA control. In June 1946, these were turned into "Soviet joint stock companies" (Sowjetische Aktiengesellschaften, SAGs), officially owned by the Soviet Union.
